Can I make a payment through the website for the item I have found?
No. Kidz Things does not provide a payment facility for members as we do not hold stock of any items advertised on this website. You will need to discuss how to make a payment to the person selling the item once you have agreed with them that you would like to buy the product they are selling.
Do I have to provide personal information in my Profile?
Not unless you would like other members of the website to see it. Members of the website will be able to see your Screen Name only unless you decide to complete the other fields (e.g. birthday, location, occupation) in your Edit Your Profile Area, but they are not compulsory.
How do I amend or delete an advert I have posted?
Login to your profile using your username and password. Click on the “Edit An Advert” link and you will be taken to a list of your posted adverts. There you can delete or amend any of your adverts.
How do I post an advertisement?
You need to be a member of the website and be logged in. Click on the Post An Advert link and then select which area you would like your advert to appear in - i.e. if you are looking to buy something then you need to select Things Wanted, and if you would like to sell something then you need to select Things for Sale. You should then complete the Upload an Advert form by filling in the requested fields. When you have completed each field, click on “Submit” and your advert will automatically be uploaded onto the website.
How do I post on the forum page?
You need to be a member of the website and currently logged in. To view or respond to a current forum, click on the Forum Name (e.g. Discipline), then on the Topic Title to see the posting. To reply, use either the “Fast Reply” or “Post Reply” buttons, or to start a new conversation click on the “New Topic” button.
What if I have sent money/my item for sale to someone but I have not received the item/payment?
Kidz Things accepts no responsibility for exchanges of payment/goods that are unsuccessful in any way. Kidzthings.co.za provides the initial introduction for an advertiser and purchaser, but our function is limited to this introduction. Please do not hand over money or items for sale to any one, no matter how genuine they may seem, without some assurance of receiving your payment/product in return. Our advice in this regard is to meet with the seller/buyer face-to-face in a public place or somewhere you feel comfortable to exchange your goods and payment. If accepting a cheque as payment for your goods, it would be wise to ask to see some form of identification.
What if I receive communication from another website member which I deem inappropriate or offensive?
Please contact immediately and give full details of your interaction with the member and the reason you feel the communication to be inappropriate or offensive so that we can investigate further.
What if I see an advertisement or forum post which I find inappropriate or offensive?
Please contact immediately and report the posting so that we can investigate further and if necessary remove the posting from the website.
What is a Screen Name?
Your Screen Name is the name you give yourself that will be seen by other members of the website (your public profile). It is not advisable to use your first and last names together as your Screen Name unless you are happy for other people using the website to know your real name. All adverts or forum posts you submit will show your Screen Name.
What is an Avatar (found in the Personal Settings of your Control Panel)?
An avatar is a computer user’s graphic representation of himself/herself or alter ego. This is often shown in Internet forums by using a picture which refers to the personality connected with your Screen Name.
Why do I have to register with the website in order to post an advert or forum comment?
When you register, your personal contact details are held confidentially and securely within our database. Other visitors to kidzthings.co.za can respond to you through the website without you having to give any personal details to them until you are satisfied that their communication is genuine, at which point you can arrange to meet them in order to exchange your items and receive payment. Similarly, when posting on the forum only your Screen Name will be shown (unless you choose to show more personal information), which means you can get involved in discussions without having to divulge private and personal details about yourself. Registering with the website also provides a means for the website Administrator to block or delete any postings by members who are abusing the website by posting inappropriate material so that the member community can interact in a friendly and good spirited environment.
Will my advert automatically be deleted when I have found/sold the item?
No. Once you have sold your item or found what you are looking for, it is your responsibility to delete your advert to ensure you do not continue to receive responses from other website members. You can delete the advert in your “Edit an Advert” area.
Will other members of the website be able to see personal information about me?
Only if you want them to. When you register as a member of the website, you create a Screen Name - this is the only personal information that will be seen by other members of the website unless you choose to include other information in your “Edit Your Profile” area found in Your Control Panel. You can update the information shown in your profile at any time.
